I am 22 years old and in the past few years I have developed a great interest in working with children. They are just so much fun and find so much curiosity and wonder in life and I love to be around it! It all started when I was traveling abroad. I was volunteering at a school in the bad side of town. It amazed me how the children remained positive and creative even when they didn't have a lot around them or any one to guide them. It was also during my travels that I welcomed two new members to my family-- my niece (5)and nephew (3). They have become my new fascination as I watch them grow up. Last year, I finally made the decision to become a teacher. I am taking full time courses online at Western Governors University to get my BA in Interdisciplinary Studies K-8. Read more I hope to someday teach second grade. Currently, I am beginning my second year working as an assistant teacher at a private Montessori preschool. Last year, I worked in a preschool classroom with a very diverse and challenging bunch of students. They were ages 3-5. I learned more than I could ever dream of and was happy to start this year in a Kindergarten class with a few tricks up my sleeve and a lot more knowledge on management and engagement. I am CPR/First Aid certified and also have a Blood-borne Pathogens certificate. I have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and don't smoke. :)
