Hi everyone -- Shannon Murphy here! I am 32 years old, originally from the DC area but I have happily called Seattle home for 5 years. I have been working in public health for the last few years, but am taking a bit of a break between jobs, and would like to fill this time with some temporary babysitting and / or tutoring gigs. I have been working with and caring for children for over two decades – I really love kids! I have experience babysitting children of all ages, nannying for families with elementary and middle school children, tutoring elementary and middle school students in math and English, teaching SAT prep, working 1:1 with Spanish-speaking elementary students in reading and writing, being a camp counselor for kids 6-14, coaching youth gymnastics and soccer, volunteering at an orphanage, and working with children at Seattle Children’s Hospital. One of my most Read more formative experiences was a fellowship position at Kopila Valley Children's Home and School in Surkhet, Nepal. I taught 2nd-5th grade English at the school, and helped care for 49 children ages 3-17 living at the children's home alongside an amazing Nepali team. Today, I volunteer with LGBTQ youth at a health and education non-profit and spend as much time as I can exploring, reading, playing, and crafting with my 5-year-old niece and many of my friends’ kiddos. I am a creative, energetic, caring, dependable, fun, and approachable person and would love the opportunity to work with children and families in Seattle.
