I have been working closely with children (grades pre-K through 12th) since the age of 14. After working at summer camps, leading games and facilitating activities, I started volunteering with organizations at UCLA where I could continue my passion of working with youth in the community. I joined The Mentorship Program at UCLA where, after two years of mentoring a ten-year old named Vanessa, I joined Mentorship’s Executive Committee to program and facilitate Mentorship’s activities. Activities were designed to foster healthy relationships between UCLA students and youth from the North Hollywood area while centered around daily themes (i.e. art, community, higher education). Additionally, as a Jumpstart AmeriCorps member, I developed and implemented interactive lessons to ignite the imagination of preschool students through arts-based programming. Upon graduation from UCLA, I had the unique opportunity of serving as a Teaching Fellow in Greece where I acted as a liaison between American and Read more Greek communities, bridging the cultural gap by crafting and implementing lesson plans to expand the acquisition of the English language for youth grades K-6. I coordinated the logistics of the school’s arts and crafts recycling club and designed lessons utilizing creative reuse arts to introduce English vocabulary to Greek children. In 2013, I worked as a Teaching Aide in a K-8 school and provided 1:1 support to students with learning differences. I recently worked at Children's Museums in the Bay Area, CA. I worked as a Teaching Artist at the Museum of Children's Arts in Oakland, CA and facilitated birthday parites for children. I also worked as an Education Intern the Children's Creativity Museum in San Francisco, CA. Every child has a unique learning style and requires individual support and attention to reach their full creative potential. Kids love feeling special and often need individual encouragement from others to know they are valued and not invisible.
