I have worked at a Preschool and Childcare Center as an assistant teacher for a year, in addition to three years of babysitting experience prior to my current position. I work in the 3-5 year old classroom, with my babysitting experience ranging from ages 2-10. I am currently a third year student at Washington State University pursuing a B.A. in Communications. My job as an assistant teacher encourages communication from a very young age; We teach children to express themselves, understand how others may feel, and offer choices that they ultimately decide. Through my experience at my center, I have learned to encourage decision making skills, develop self-esteem, and establish values. It is my belief that children learn best through exploring and utilization of the environment, in addition to their own concrete experiences. The experiences and knowledge that I've obtained from my center are skills that I can apply to Read more multiple aspects of my life, including my current education path. I enjoy childcare because of how unique every child is. As much knowledge and experience you've obtained, you have to be flexible and adapt to the differences in each child. It requires constant awareness and observation skills, so that you can put your best efforts towards the development of the child. I have formally worked with ages ranging from 2-6, although I have personal experience babysitting ages 7-10. I am CPR certified.
