People who know me aren't surprised when they find me flying around with a group of kids at a party or family reunion. I love being their playmate in a world of wonder and excitement, where possibilities are endless if you can dream them. Because every kid discovers and grows in such a unique way, I find them constantly fascinating and hilarious. I get along with children exceptionally well because I have no trouble being a big kid. I can get involved in any kind of sport, pretend to be a time-traveling dinosaur, squeeze myself into tight spaces for-hide-and-go-seek, or get wrapped up in paints and colored pencils for hours. My babysitting experience has been with children of all ages, ranging from toddlers to 15 year olds. Along with inventing games and finding creative ways to keep kids occupied and interested, I have also tutored children in various subjects. I Read more speak fairly fluent Spanish, and I love to play music and sing. I am CPR/First-Aid certified. I have babysat for a number of families. For 3 years I consistently worked for a wonderful family with children around the ages of 3, 5, and 7. I became incredibly close with the kids, and looked forward to Saturdays and Sundays as much as they did. I was with them from morning till night, playing games, going for walks, cooking meals, putting them to bed, etc. At the same time I also cared for a 10 year-old-boy with Asperger's Syndrome. This past year I was traveling throughout South America. After completing my Associates in Arts degree, I flew to Ecuador and traveled for 11 months through Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, and Chile. I volunteered with an organization in Ecuador called Hearts for a New Life Foundation, which provides a safe haven for rape and abuse victims. At the time I was there, however, a new facility had been bought and I spent my days renovating the building and babysitting the director's 3 children. Even though my Spanish was still basic, I connected with the kids and we had a blast. I've held various positions in restaurants and coffee shops, but I've come to realize that I prefer working as a nanny or a babysitter. I love building relationships with children, and I love being part of a family. My traveling experiences have taught me to be exceptionally calm in high pressure situations, as well as how to be responsible and aware, while still opening up and having fun.
