I am Avery, a 25 year-old Seattle-native. I freelance as a visual journalist, but babysit and nanny part-time to save towards graduate school. In my personal life I am a filmmaker, photographer, rock climber, knitter, and space enthusiast. I have traveled extensively for work, primarily in the Middle East, but am back in Washington for a while. I have been babysitting and working with children since I was 12 years old. Through middle and high school, I regularly babysat for families in the neighborhood. For a year and a half I was a part-time nanny for a toddler. I have also spent a school year as a part-time nanny for a family of 4 children (aged 6 months, 1 1/2, 8, and 11). For the past year that I've been back in Seattle, I have been regularly babysitting for several different families. The majority of my experience is with toddlers Read more and preschool aged children, though I enjoy working with children of all ages. I love spending time with the kids outside or reading and building legos indoors on rainy days. I do not mind helping with homework (maths and science are my skillset) or assisting with housework and cooking. What I enjoy most is becoming a small part of a family and watching children as they develop in thinking and skills. I like getting kids to use their creativity and imagination by building things or working on projects together.
