-I’m 31 years old and have 15+ years of experience in childcare. Six years ago I became a mother, and my little boy always accompanied me to nanny jobs. Four years ago during tragic circumstances, he passed away. During a camping trip, a wildfire sprung on us unawares. The smoke inhalation was too much for my son, who passed peacefully in my arms. The grief of losing my son is tremendous, but I have met with a psychologist and been given a clean bill of mental health. She said I process my grief in a very healthy manner and do not have ptsd. I recovered from my burn injury with some visible scars, but nothing that hinders my confidence or ability to work. I also now have an almost 2-year-old daughter who also accompanies me to nanny jobs, though I do have the option to leave her with family rather Read more than bring her. She’s a very happy and social little girl who loves playing with other kiddos. Having her along is a benefit to all parties involved since having extra playmates around from a young age is beneficial to little ones’ development, but I understand there are some circumstances where it would be better to not have her tagging along. -I have lots of nurture to give, both as a mother and as a nanny. The families I’ve nannied for can give great references for me upon request. -I have cared for as many as 8 children at once before. -I always seek to tailor my nannying style to be in harmony with the parenting style of whichever family I’m working with, but in general I lean towards a Montessori/Charlotte Mason type philosophy. I believe in holding a few boundaries, then giving the children a lot of freedom within a safe atmosphere. I usually establish a rhythm and routine for the day, but allow for flexibility as well. I love to read books out loud, make space for free play both indoors and outdoors, and engage them in educational and creative projects as they grow. I love to frequently get little ones out to playgrounds, zoos, libraries, play dates, museums, etc.
