Hello! My name is Makena. I’m a 22 years old native Seattlite, and I have just completed my third year at Villanova University studying Philosophy, English, and Chinese. As I am home for the summer, I am excited to dedicate my time and skills to caring for your children. I am reliable, responsible, and committed to providing a supportive and engaging environment for your little ones. I also have extensive past experience with kids in a variety of settings which have provided me valuable knowledge and experience. During my time as a counselor at a theater camp in Seattle, I had the privilege of supervising children aged 4 to 16. Over the course of three years, I honed my skills in managing different age groups, fostering creativity, and ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all. Additionally, I gained valuable insight into the importance of teamwork, communication, and individual growth. Read more As a daycare employee at Seattle Athletic Club for two years, I provided care for children during their early years of development. This experience allowed me to understand the unique needs and demands of young children and how to engage them in fun and educational activities. I was responsible for creating a positive and nurturing environment while ensuring their safety and well-being. During the challenging times of the COVID pandemic, I took a year off from college and worked as a nanny and tutor for five amazing children. I cared for four second-grade girls and a 4-year-old girl, providing personalized attention, academic support, and emotional guidance. This opportunity allowed me to witness the incredible curiosity and eagerness to learn that children possess. In addition to my formal experience, I have grown up around children and have always loved being in their company. Coming from a family that owns three cats and a dog, I am comfortable and familiar with pets of all kinds, so any extra critters are a plus for me! Safety is my utmost priority, and I possess a safe car along with a clean driving record. With a passion for art and music, I believe in engaging children's creative and expressive abilities.
