I am a 67 years old very active retired RN. Recently I finished a Master's degree in grief and trauma counseling. I have five children and five grandchildren. Seven years ago, I moved to live in my parents home to help care for them until they both had passed on 4 years ago. For the next three years, I moved in to my daughter's family, playing the role of live-in Nana. I had been with their two children, though since birth (now ages five and seven). I have strong feelings about the need for more multigenerational homes in our society, where grandparents play an active role in their children lives. Now, for the last six months, I have helped my son (who just received full custody) with his five-year-old daughter to get settled in family housing on the UCSB campus. Kids and animals love me.
