Hi! I have a BSc in Psychology (minors Sociology, English) and a MSc in Developmental Psychology from a year abroad in the UK. Before studying in the UK, I LOVED working with young children and families at a early learning daycare center. I was hired as the lead toddler teacher (working primarily with 12-24 month olds) and ended up working as the assistant director; this was great administrative and early childhood education experience, and I worked with all ages at the preschool (infancy - school age). I’ve also babysat for years and nannied since returning from my recent studies. My favorite ages to play with, sing to, and teach about life are definitely infancy - two years. With a background in psychological and lifespan human development, my approach is rooted in supporting children's cognitive, socio-emotional, behavioral, and physical growth while promoting independence and self-esteem. I love to do this by Read more engaging in fun developmentally appropriate play - crafts, musical, sensory, imaginative play, etc. - and by demonstrating to children that I am a safe adult who will respect and advocate for them, give structured support (i.e., follow through on commitments, hold boundaries, etc.), and provide them space to build trust in our relationship. I apply these practices age appropriately and adapt them to the child, as infants and younger toddlers, for example, require might more physical affection (snuggles, rocking to sleep) than school age kids. I am putting out feelers to keep working with young children while I decide if I will apply for PhD program or other position in my field. I will communicate transparently about these changes, as I know how important it is for you (and me) to build consistency in relationships with littles. In the mean time, however, I can provide reliable, quality care or help you out in a pinch if yours falls through or you are looking to try out a new sitter :)

Cara took care of our baby (who's almost 5 months old) for a few days. She was on time, interacted well with the baby, and left detailed notes. Our baby seemed pretty happy with her.
