I'm a recent transplant to the Seattle area via Portland, Oregon. I'm fully settled and loving it here. I began my childcare career working in Berkeley, California at a preschool and at a Montessori elementary school in 2003. I moved back to Portland in 2006 where I became a nanny and worked with several families with children ranging in ages of five months to eight years old. Most recently I was employed as an assistant preschool teacher and babysitter for a wonderful in home preschool in Portland. I worked at the preschool for a year and a half before my relocation here. During my years of nannying I also attended part time college, majoring in psychology with an emphasis on early childhood development and autism. I'm one year away from my Bachelors degree. What keeps me working in the field is that it never gets dull, there is always something Read more fun to do, and something new to learn. I find childcare mentally and emotionally fulfilling in ways that other jobs simply cannot provide. What makes me good at the job is that I'm a patient person with a good level of empathy. I'm also open minded and flexible. I know that every family does things differently, which I respond to with respect and honor accordingly.
