I received a Bachelor of Arts, from The Evergreen State College, emphasizing in education and performance art. During this time, I gained familiarity with Washington State Common Core Standards and also alternative teaching methods. Since graduating in June 2014, I have completed over 60 hours of volunteering as a teachers assistant at Hansen Elementary and one full of year of training disabled youths, with the organization Project Search. For the last two years, I have held the the position of Site Director for the YMCA, providing before and after school programs for children K-5th grade. I was responsible for oversight of the day-to-day operations for before and after school program, including planning, coordination, and supervision of the program (20-30 children) to ensure that families receive quality child care services. I lead fun activities, provided snacks, assisted with homework and ensured overall safety and well-being for every child. During this time, Read more I also babysat for multiple families in Olympia, lead Samba dance classes for children at Lincoln Elementary and taught Zumba, dance and sewing workshops during YMCA camps. Currently, I am working at Latona School Associates as a Teacher’s Assistant in the afternoon’s. I enjoy leading art, science, cooking and movement activities for the children and being a support system for the teacher. I am passionate about childcare, development and creating a safe, positive and playful for all children. My trainings include: STARS 20 Hours, CPR, AED AND Basic First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, Safety and HIV, Emergency Preparedness and Epi-Pen Training and most recently Building Resiliency; Trauma informed practices for students.
