Presently, very involved w/ my 3 grandsons (4.5, 2, 5.5 mos), and teach 3-6 yr olds weekly at my church. I home-schooled my two daughters for 13 yrs. Have actively taught Sunday school for 8 - 10 yrs, ages 2 - 11. Prior babysitting/nanny experience was w/ 2 families 6 yrs ago, both of whom desired me to be full-time (I was not available). Most recently a Sittercity client who enjoyed having their daughter having a more mature sitter since her grandparents were not near. This was discontinued as I began caregiving my mother who passed away a yr ago. I am a teacher-at-heart and naturally engage children in intentional thought process thru conversation & activities, that is, motivate them to be active thinkers, to discover their gifts and interests, and develop eagerness for knowledge about the world around them. This is possible even w/ babies. This is where I Read more believe I demonstrate a true regard for children, and why they respond positively to me. My creativity helps me to facilitate this process. My credentials are not a piece of paper, but that I highly respect children and their capacity as individuals, plus my decades of track record of being w/ children whose parents said, "My children love you," or "My son (or daughter) never liked Sunday school until you came along," or "I wish you were available to be our full-time nanny, my children respond to you," and, "We really like how you are w/ our child," or my own grandsons who love to go on "dates" w/ me or spend the night, or parents who would bring their kids back to visit me after moving away b/c their kids wanted to see me again; and last but not least, I believe children should learn to be orderly and respectful of things and people, so I encourage this and set an example.
