Why do you love being a sitter? I love being a sitter because I genuinely enjoy supporting children as they grow, learn, and explore their world. Every child is unique, and I find so much joy in creating a safe, nurturing space where they feel seen, heard, and valued. Being a consistent and kind presence in their lives is deeply rewarding to me, especially knowing that I’m helping to shape positive early experiences. What experience do you have? I have a strong background in both personal and professional childcare. I’ve babysat for a family with three children — an infant and two toddlers — from 6:30 AM to 10 PM daily during the summer, managing meals, playtime, naps, and bedtime routines. I currently work as a camp counselor at the YMCA, where I lead activities, resolve conflicts, and keep children engaged and safe throughout the day. Additionally, I volunteer at Read more Rockford Hospital in the PEDS department and in the NICU where I cuddle and comfort infants — experiences that have deepened my empathy and strengthened my ability to support children of all ages. What skills and training do you have? As a Child Life major, I’m trained in child development, emotional support strategies, and family-centered care. My hospital volunteer work has taught me how to be calm under pressure, sensitive to children's medical and emotional needs, and communicative with both children and parents. I’ve learned to use play as a tool for both comfort and development. At the YMCA, I’ve further developed leadership, patience, and behavior management skills. I’m also CPR and First Aid certified, which helps me ensure children’s safety at all times.
