My professional experience in childcare started as a summer camp group leader for elementary aged kids. I then moved into the role of site director for an after school program at the same school. The summer camp was learning/education based, so I was responsible for coming up with weekly themes, and educational projects and lesson plans that fit into each theme. In my position as site director I had many of the same responsibilities, with additional administrative and supervisory responsibilities. I have done in home day care for the past 4 years. In that time I've cared for infants, toddlers, pre school and elementary school children. I have been county certified in the past but have chosen not to renew. In addition to professional experience, I have two younger brothers who are 18 and 20 years younger than me. I have had plenty of experience watching and caring for them Read more throughout the years. I also have four kids of my own ages 3, 5, 7 & 9 who in all honesty, have prepared me most as a caregiver. That being said, diaper changing, bottle feeding, potty training, dealing with sick little ones, building vocabulary, and teaching new skills are all part of my everyday life. I can provide care at your home or mine. I have an excellent playroom with toys and books for all ages, arts and crafts supplies for all skill levels, musical instruments for those interested in learning (or just having fun), board games, tons of dress up gear, a large backyard with play equipment, etc. We're within walking distance of a public library, and a quick drive can get us to the park, or the arboretum. I do my best to provide my children and those that I care for with a fun, creative, positive learning environment.
