Hello! I'm Jena! I'm a motivated and energetic mid-30s woman who is deeply passionate about nurturing and guiding children as they grow, learn, and thrive. I have over 20 years of experience in child care/education as well as two awesome nieces and an amazing nephew (ages 10, 7.5, and 2.5). They really do think I'm the best auntie. :-) I have cared for the three of them, from infants to now, for multiple days at a time (overnight as well) and have also cared for multiple children (toddler room and infant room) at a daycare facility. Additionally, I've been a regular occasional babysitter for multiple local families, anywhere from the past month up to 10+ years with the same family (infants included as well as overnight care). These kid care opportunities are usually on nights and weekends so they would not interfere with daytime care. I spent the last 11 Read more years working for an MKE nonprofit specializing in social emotional learning and game play at elementary schools (K3-8th grade). This has more than equipped me to guide children through the multiple fun, and sometimes tough, stages of being a kid. I love teaching and playing games with kids while incorporating valuable social, emotional, and academic learning. During the pandemic, I spent months homeschooling my niece and nephew which required lesson planning and activity prep along with facilitation of learning for different ages. Prior to my nonprofit work, I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guyana where I taught literacy to elementary students, ages 5-10. I also organized, launched, and implemented a swimming lesson program for the youth in my local community there, and that program continues to this day! I've lived in Milwaukee for over 11 years and enjoy the city (mostly the summer haha), getting to know my neighbors, hanging out with friends, and taking my little corgi for walks. I'm definitely pet friendly! Additionally, I am COVID vaccinated and CPR/First Aid certified. I'd be grateful and excited to learn more about your family.
