I grew up being an only child and I was also the oldest of all the cousins. Being around children (outside of classmates) really didn’t begin until I was 9 years old. That was when I began babysitting for family friends. A year later my aunt and uncle, whom I was very close to, had their first child. My aunt was a stay at home mom and decided to do child care out of her home. That was really when my love for children began. I was 9 years old and was observing other people’s children growing up every day. I helped my aunt a lot with the kids and babysat for her new baby at times. A couple of years later another baby came. I absolutely adored my baby cousins and loved babysitting them. The most rewarding thing is watching a child learn and master a new skill. I Read more love looking back, especially with my cousins, and thinking “They learned that from me!” Ever since then I have always had a passion to work with children. I am currently training to be volunteer CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for children. I also am inquiring about schooling for social work.
