We have a family event that our Autistic daughter is not interested in going to. She is independent and will not need anything while you are there. She will likely stay in her room on her computer or could be asleep (depending on her sleep schedule at the time). If she ventures downstairs it would be to snack (which would already be prepared for her). So, it's an easy night of monitoring and just being there. You can study, watch TV, read a book... very easy.
