Shawna J.

I am Shawna Johnsbury, and I would like to work in your home, with your children and you. I have worked as a nanny and in a pre-school for my entire adult life. I know how important the first exposure to learning can be for both a child and the parents. Not only for that childs academic career, but also their whole lives can be set upon the foundation of their first learning years. It is because I have helped many children and their families learn to LOVE to learn that I am pursuing this opportunity. With kids, you can expect me to: Encourage, cherish, work to meet individual needs. Facilitate & Encourage risk taking. Discuss, predict and review choices. Allow natural consequences, including “failure,” to teach (where in line with the family’s philosophy)For example, “You might feel cold if you get wet.” If the kid chooses to get wet, I will let that happen and help them maneuver the chills, all the while believing that giving them room to choose (and go through the consequences) teaches them to make better choices. Also, a kid might not experience cold the way I do; perhaps it really does feel good to them even if I am chilled! Use exploration and experimentation wherever possible. Facilitate conflict resolution. Give time/space for all parties to feel and articulate his/her experience (thoughts, feelings, concerns). Plan for future conflicts, to avoid or manage differently. Ask a million questions! LISTEN for the kids’ answer. At times, try to answer them together! ~Why?~ Why not?~ Where?~Who?~ How?~ What if…..?~ Who else? ~ What other ways? Turn a question back to a kid….”Miss Shawna, why don’t we go to the park today?” “Well, kidd-o, why do you think we aren’t?” Again, listen to what they are thinking! For the families I work with, you can expect me to; Adhere to the family rules and contracts. Support parents with; punctuality, reliability, consistency. I will share observations, concerns, ideas. If requested, I will write observations/daily logs, attend community events, take classes, read books, assist with light meal prep, shopping, some home maintenance. I will put the needs of the kids first, while holding value that kids can and do contribute to a household. I believe they can be happily incorporated into many of the tasks that are to be accomplished. I will hold their physical & emotional safety in highest regard. Seeking 20-30 hours, 2-3 days

I have 2 years of babysitting experience with my cousins, although not professional I have had a lot of practice with them as one of them has autism. Outside of school, I work with a lot of kids. I am a current college student studying mechanical engineering so I also love to help with homework I coach soccer and teach summer school for middle schoolers! I used to do summer camp at Girls Inc. where I worked with 3rd-5th graders. I plan to continue on working with kids even as my career develops, hopefully inspiring some of them to become engineers as well! I am CPR + First Aid trained.

as the oldest child of three, I have always been around kids and have helped in raising my younger siblings. When my uncle had kids in 2013, I was very involved in their babysitting care and have helped care for them on the weekends for the last 10 years. I love working with kids and seeing them not only brings me joy, but I plan to use these opportunities to better understand how I can gain this exposure to help me on my path to becoming a pediatrician.

Hi there! I’m Jasmine. I have about 3 months of experience at a daycare, where I had the joy of engaging with elementary-aged kids (6–11) every day. I helped them with creative activities, their homework, prepped meals, and cleaned. In my free time I enjoy cooking and would love to share my food with you! I am very open to helping with chores around the house. I look forward to meeting your family and helping make your life a little easier! I have also obtained my Basic Life Support Certification through the American Red Cross. This has prepared me in case of emergencies of cardiac arrest, raspatory failure, and choking for all ages. I would also be happy to teach you these skills as well! Safety is important.

My name is Quiyara Williams, I am a sophomore at the University of Colorado Boulder with a double major (physiology and psychology), a declared study of pre-med and a minor in philosophy. My mother is a child care provider, she ranges from ages 11 months to 5 years old and since I was 15, I have been helping her not only keep an eye out but care for and bonded with the children. Personally I always loved caring and watching babies and that’s why I would consider myself a good fit as a sitter because not only do I have background in taking care of infants and toddlers but also I find joy in it as well. For my future plans I am continuing my studies at CU Boulder and plan to go to medical school and become an OBGYN. Sitting is honestly one of my passions for why I want to become an OBGYN because I love taking care of infants annd young children and helping parents that need the care. Although I am young, I I know that becoming a sitter will help me grow more individually with experience and also create more bonds with parents and children over time.
