I am Shawna Johnsbury, and I would like to work in your home, with your children and you. I have worked as a nanny and in a pre-school for my entire adult life. I know how important the first exposure to learning can be for both a child and the parents. Not only for that childs academic career, but also their whole lives can be set upon the foundation of their first learning years. It is because I have helped many children and their families learn to LOVE to learn that I am pursuing this opportunity. With kids, you can expect me to: Encourage, cherish, work to meet individual needs. Facilitate & Encourage risk taking. Discuss, predict and review choices. Allow natural consequences, including “failure,” to teach (where in line with the family’s philosophy)For example, “You might feel cold if you get wet.” If the kid chooses to get wet, I will let that happen and help them maneuver the chills, all the while believing that giving them room to choose (and go through the consequences) teaches them to make better choices. Also, a kid might not experience cold the way I do; perhaps it really does feel good to them even if I am chilled! Use exploration and experimentation wherever possible. Facilitate conflict resolution. Give time/space for all parties to feel and articulate his/her experience (thoughts, feelings, concerns). Plan for future conflicts, to avoid or manage differently. Ask a million questions! LISTEN for the kids’ answer. At times, try to answer them together! ~Why?~ Why not?~ Where?~Who?~ How?~ What if…..?~ Who else? ~ What other ways? Turn a question back to a kid….”Miss Shawna, why don’t we go to the park today?” “Well, kidd-o, why do you think we aren’t?” Again, listen to what they are thinking! For the families I work with, you can expect me to; Adhere to the family rules and contracts. Support parents with; punctuality, reliability, consistency. I will share observations, concerns, ideas. If requested, I will write observations/daily logs, attend community events, take classes, read books, assist with light meal prep, shopping, some home maintenance. I will put the needs of the kids first, while holding value that kids can and do contribute to a household. I believe they can be happily incorporated into many of the tasks that are to be accomplished. I will hold their physical & emotional safety in highest regard. Seeking 20-30 hours, 2-3 days

We can’t say enough good things about Shawna! She was so patient and attentive with our toddler from the very beginning. As first time parents she showed us so much support by remaining flexible with our busy work schedules and understanding of our parenting style! Thank you Shawna!

I've been working with children all my life. I have my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, and I'm always looking for new and exciting activities to try! I love art and music, getting messy, and I love to foster and support a child's natural curiosity!

Lydia has been caring for our daughter for almost 6 months; she started watching her when she was 6 months and our little girl just turned 1. We also have a 3 year old son and we have worked with a few nannies in the past for his care. Lydia is by far the best nanny we have ever worked with. She is extremely professional, knowledgeable, and punctual. Our daughter has really come to love Lydia (as have we!), and we can see how much Lydia has taught her in these past several months. One of Lydia’s greatest strengths is her professionalism & extensive background in childcare – she was great about coming to us with suggestions around eating/sleeping/play, and would always check with us first to make any changes in routine. Lydia did a great job providing appropriate developmental activities for our daughter, as well as taking her out on walks to the park or to a music class nearby. She did a great job documenting nap and meal times. Lydia also kept the house tidy, organizing any toys they played with throughout the day or cleaning up bowls/plates that they used. We are really going to miss working with Lydia; the only reason we are parting ways is because we are moving to the other side of town.

as the oldest child of three, I have always been around kids and have helped in raising my younger siblings. When my uncle had kids in 2013, I was very involved in their babysitting care and have helped care for them on the weekends for the last 10 years. I love working with kids and seeing them not only brings me joy, but I plan to use these opportunities to better understand how I can gain this exposure to help me on my path to becoming a pediatrician.

Hi! My name is Katherynne. I’m a loving, reliable, and experienced caregiver — and also a proud mom of three! I’ve been caring for children for over 8 years, both professionally and personally. I believe in nurturing children with patience, creativity, and respect. I’m currently caring for my 1 year old baby, and I’m looking for a family who would be open to me bringing him along. I love being a nanny because I get to support children’s growth and be part of their everyday learning moments. I have experience with infants, toddlers, and school-age children. I can help with meals, diapers, naps, playtime, and light housekeeping. I’d love the chance to support your family with care that feels like home. Looking forward to connecting!

Hii families! My name is Quiyara, I am a sophomore at the University of Colorado at Boulder studying Integrative Physiology, a declared study of pre-PA, and a minor in philosophy. I am currently in the process of obtaining my certification as a postpartum doula, hoping to work with mamas, infants and families in the home or hospital setting. As for my certification, I am looking for a family who is willing to allow me to assist with 12 hours of postpartum care. This will be volunteer-only. I am not asking for any pay, only the opportunity to work with you and your baby to not only gain the hours that I need for my credentials but to start building a bond with your baby. Although I am young, I know that becoming a sitter will help me grow more individually with experience and also create more bonds with parents and children over time. I have years of experience in babysitting siblings and younger cousins (unprofessionally), and I two professional care experiences (able to provide references). I am also Child and Youth Mentor with Pikes Peak Respite Services and I volunteer at the Children Hospital in Aurora CO. For my future plans, I am continuing my studies at CU Boulder and plan to go to PA school and become a physician assistant in Obstetrics and Gynecology. I'm passionate about becoming an OBGYN PA because 1) my desire to help women through the most vulnerable/emotional period of their lives, 2) I believe all women of every background should be properly education on their reproductive health and sexual health and 3) seeing new life being brought into this world and being able to help parents upbring their children into great human beings brings me great joy!
