Hello! I’m Tessa. I have worked with kids in various settings for about 15 years. I have nannied and babysat, I’ve worked in classrooms, in outdoor education, and was the director of a nature-based afterschool program. In these various settings I have worked with infants through elementary-school-age kids, occasionally with middle schoolers as well. My formal education in child development started in high school through the Child Development Program that led to preschool teacher certification in RI. I earned a dual bachelor’s in psychology and child studies, which involved work in an infant classroom in a daycare setting and led to a teacher certification for infants and toddlers in MA & CT. I also have a master’s degree in Ecopsychology. My favorite part of working with kids is learning their personalities and engaging in and supporting their interests. As a young teenager, I babysat my next door neighbors children. A young boy and toddling girl. I babysat for them close to 7 or 8 years. I enjoyed playing outside with them and going on long walks. They each had their favorite activities, the boy playing with train tracks, and the girl was to read books and color in her favorite coloring books. As they grew up they started to become self reliant and were into out of the home sports and activities while I wasn’t able to provide them with transportation. I don’t babysit for them anymore but still have a great relationship with the family!

My main job as a behavior analyst requires me to work with children aged 2-12 on the autism spectrum. I have been in this field for over 4 years and have an undergraduate degree in psychology and a masters in behavior analysis.
