I am a mom of two grown children and I spent years as a Girl Scout leader. I taught elementary school for several years and I have a masters degree in reading education. For the past fifteen years, I have been a substitute teacher in Region One Schools. Before working in the school setting, I spent several summers at my local day camp, where I worked my way up from counselor to Behavior Director. In that role, I supported campers with behavioral needs, collaborated with staff and families, helped implement behavior strategies, and worked to ensure every child had a safe, positive, and successful camp experience. In addition to my work in education, I have babysat for numerous families with children of all ages. Whether we’re playing outside, doing crafts, reading stories, helping with homework, or following bedtime routines, I strive to create a fun, engaging, and structured environment where children feel safe, supported, and cared for. I understand that every child is unique, and I take the time to learn each child’s personality, interests, and routines. My goal is to build trusting relationships with both children and parents by being patient, dependable, and attentive while creating meaningful experiences for the children in my care. I have experience with infants/toddlers and a little bit of preschoolers. My favorite age is infant/toddlers because I love to watch them grow. I have 4 years experience with both age groups. Hi my name is Marissa Mapes. I started child care when I was about 15 years old, I'll be 20 this year. I started off babysitting for family when my cousin had her two boys. I helped out as much as she needed me. Then I started babysitting neighbors animals and then moved and started child babysitting. She has special needs and soon started school. When I graduated highschool. That next school year I started college and also babysitting in the mornings for 5 kids ages 5-13. Putting them on the bus, making sure they ate and had lunch.
