I'm on a pre-doctoral track for occupational therapy, and my dream is to be a pediatric occupational therapist. I'm trying to find a part—or full-time nanny job for this summer, and I'm always open to babysitting on an as-needed basis. With 8+ years of babysitting experience, I've worked at an after-school daycare program, as full-time nanny the past few summers, and as a regular babysitter for local families during the school year. My experience spans from infants to 6th graders, including children with special needs including autism, non-verbal communication, and a range of behavioral challenges. I have a unique perspective on special needs care due to my close relationship with my 10 year old brother. He was fostered and adopted as a newborn and is currently diagnosed with intermittent explosive disorder, ADHD, and a generalized anxiety disorder. With trauma and drug exposure in utero he was diagnosed with intermittent explosive disorder and ADHD. I prioritize creating a positive, nurturing environment for every child in my care. My experience has equipped me with the skills to handle a wide range of situations, including severe behavioral outbursts, with patience and understanding. I have babysat for a family with kids ages 3 months, 2 years old, 3 years old, 4 years old, 12 years old, and 13 years old. Babysitting them entailed changing the baby and 2 and 3-year-old's, as they were not potty-trained yet. Feeding all of the children. Making sure all of the kids were entertained until bed time by playing with them and watching movies. And lastly, putting them all to bed. Mid last year I was a full-time nanny for a few months for a family with two children ages 1 years old and 3 years old. For this family it was thoroughly important that the children be kept busy all day with fun and brain enhancing activities. Arts and crafts, puzzles, and trips to the library were just some of the activities I did with the kids. It was so much fun! For this family I also did things like preparing dinner, cleaning the house (bathrooms. kitchen, living areas), and doing laundry. I have fallen in love with being a babysitter/nanny because I feel as if children are one of the few wonders of the world. I enjoy teaching them things, helping them learn, and making sure they feel cared for and nurtured. I believe that what makes me good at my job is that i have such patience and compassion when working with children. I have pretty open availability except 2 days out of the week-as I am a college student and I have school Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8am-1:45pm. I hope I am a good fit for your family!
