A life-long Chicago resident, I have been a paid sitter since I was a teen, have three children of my own, am the eldest of six siblings and was a Girl Scout leader in Rogers Park/Skokie for 10 years (was CPR/first aid certified annually during this time). In my capacity as a GS Leader, I was trusted the care of numerous children on a bi-weekly basis, overnight camping weekends and international travel. I am punctual, patient, and genuinely enjoy caring for children. I am an active person, having participated in a Ragnar 200+ mile relay race, and continue to run 10k and half marathon events regularly. I am completely comfortable with infants, toddlers and school age children, as well as multiple siblings. For several years, I was registered/certified with the state to be a respite caregiver for children on the autism spectrum. I have a commitment with another family on Sunday mornings, but am otherwise available weeknights and weekends day/evening/night. I take caring for your child/children seriously, and also that of our working relationship! Bookings agree to these terms: Mon-Thurs minimum hours paid is 2.5 hrs. Friday/Saturday/Sunday minimum hours paid is 4 hours. Booking is payable for agreed upon duration even if you come home early. Late arrivals after agreed upon time is 1.5X the agreed upon rate. I have many years of experience with children in a wide range of settings, including many years of babysitting for families in their homes, working as a summer camp counselor, as an assistant teacher in a daycare, and volunteering in two elementary schools. I raised my own son and I occasionally watch my 4 and 6 year old grandsons. In the past year and a half I have watched a 2.5 year old boy, an infant girl from age 3 to 6 months, a baby boy from 7 to 10 months, and an 8 year old girl. I completed a pediatric first aid and CPR class in November 2023. When I am watching children I do not use my cell phone (other than in case of emergency or if I need to schedule an appointment) as I want to give the kids my undivided attention. I especially enjoy reading to children, doing art projects together, and taking nature walks. I am very energetic, and on days when I am not babysitting, I typically take 4 - 5 mile walks along the lake. I am very happy to provide professional and personal references. I work for TrueNorth full time during the school year as an RBT, and also work part time as a program assistant for NSSRA and an autism services clinic as an RBT. I am currently looking for summer or weekend work, but have some flexibility to fill in for last minute needs during the week.
