Hello! My name is Shannon. I am currently a therapist and former childcare provider of over 10 years looking to fill a little morning time with nanny work. I am currently working later in the day starting at 1pm and would ideally love to find an opportunity 2-4 days a week between 8 or 9am to 12pm. I recently moved to the East Portland/Hawthorne area! Experience I have: -I've been with Sittercity since 2016 sitting and nannying for families throughout the years. -I am a former preschool/daycare teacher with over six years in that environment as a lead infant teacher, lead toddler teacher, and assistant preschool teacher. -Nanny experience additionally outside of Sittercity with families that I am still close with. -Former Early Learning Specialist teaching parents how to teach their young children and pediatric therapist experience that has kept me up to date with childcare and child development best practices. -CPR/First aid trained A little more about me and my approach... -I am a gentle re-director who can both hold boundaries well and also decern when different approaches are needed around meeting a need. -I am a constant teacher (it's just in my spirit after all my time with little ones) so my philosophy is to always be encouraging growth during my time caring for children. - I utilize a trust based relational approach where I build trust through safety while also following through with what needs to get done in a way that meets the child's needs. -With parents I am open to give an advice that is asked so I will not give unsolicited tips, that's only if you wanted to know something. For any work, I ask that pay is same day for non-regular work and work that is regular weekly pay is fine. I'm looking forward to meeting your family and caring for your little one!

I am fully vaccinated. I have worked with children of a variety of ages in the Portland, Oregon Metro. area for many years.  At times I have worked for private family residences as a Nanny, other times I have worked for local Day Schools as a Lead Teacher. Most recently, my work has been as a Nanny. I have worked with infants and young toddlers age range from 0-3 years. I have been a nanny/babysitter for as long as I can remember! I absolutely love kids and teaching them fun new things and sports! Other then nannying I have coached volleyball for the past 8 years anywhere from 6th grade to High School Varsity. I have my bachelors degree in Psychology with a specialization in child development and after that plans of getting a Master in mental health counseling for school aged kids! I have extensive infant/toddler/kid experience as it has been my job for the past few years! I have done things from “shorter" jobs such as date nights and giving rides to places, all the way up to overnights where I spent the entire week with three boys while their parents were out of the country. My past experiences make me very versatile so I am open to anything that you might need help with from young kiddos needing bottle feeding, sleep training, food transitioning, potty training, etc. And for older kids I’m happy to give homework help, create and implement structured days, prepare meals, and clean up. A couple random things I honestly love are running errands/grocery shopping and doing laundry. I understand life is unpredictable so I’m happy to provide sick care! The most kids I've watched at once not including playdates was 4 at a time and it was a blast. I would say that I am a very flexible and understanding person and am always happy to to grow and change with your family’s needs. I think it's very important to build a good relationship with the kid(s) and parent(s) so it's a nice experience for everyone. I love getting outside and playing and even going on day trips to explore! I am fully vaccinated and have my own car (with 7 seats) including two toddler car seats and a clean driving record! I got to be a nanny for two adorable girls, Every time I see them , they say I’m the best baby sister they ever had . I just really enjoy infants, babies, toddlers , preschoolers , Elementary schoolers, time with them I drop everything giving them loving , attentive care, making it a memorable experience for them. Safety is always first but second is to have fun together.. I have been babysitting on and off throughout my entire life.
