Hello families! My name is Taylor Chewning and I have been in the childcare field for two years. I am currently majoring in elementary education at Liberty University. I have CPR and First Aid certification for infants, children, and adults. I have a paraprofessional certification as well as training in dyslexia awareness and various Penn State preservice completions for child care staff. My Early Childhood Education classes at my local community college helped me learn how young children are wired and how to interact with them accordingly. I worked in a primary school with ages 4-6 for one year and am currently working at a Montessori school. Right now I interact with and care for children ranging from ages between 6 months and 10 years old. My top priorities in any childcare position are safety, development, and creating a loving atmosphere where kids can be themselves. I am great with homework help and love to teach kids new games, skills, and problem-solving techniques. I was blessed to win first place at the Educators Rising 2025 Conference by creating and delivering a STEM lesson to kindergarten students. My students learned something new that day while also having a memorable lesson that many of them talked about for weeks afterwards. I can change any diaper and am willing to help with potty training as well! I have developed a close relationship with many of my students and care for them all very deeply. When children are under my watch I respect the wishes and routines of parents while also caring for each child as if they were my own. As a college student, my degree is a Music performing arts, but I also am taking many classes in youth development and ministry. My heart for children has been so strong since I can remember. At the age of 15 I started working in the nursery as well as child care for my church. I was also a youth worship leader, and was able to connect with young children. This past summer, I worked at a camp for three months straight with ages 8-13. It was such a joy being surrounded by young people and how I can help in their journey !
