Since I was 12 years old I have absolutely loved spending time with children and have been an avid babysitter. Coming from a family of 3 older sisters, I would regularly accompany them to their babysitting jobs and gained experience from a very young age. I've cared for children as little as months old to middle schoolers and find such joy in seeing children develop at different stages in their life. Hello! My name is Em and I use They/Them pronouns. I currently work at a preschool through one of my classes at UVM where I major in Psychology. In the summer I work as a camp counselor, I’m also a certified substitute teacher in my hometown. I have lots of experience with children who are neurodivergent and children who have disabilities. When I’m working with kids I try to immerse myself in their world and their play, intentionally scaffolding and modeling age appropriate skills such as motor, social and emotional, and communication skills. I also enjoy cooking and baking, drawing and sewing, and having kitchen dance parties with my dogs. I love working with kids, I find it very rewarding to connect with kiddos and help them grow as people. I have found that I connect very well with neurodivergent children, I’m neurodivergent and learned a lot of my skills through having a younger brother who has autism.
