My father has short term memory loss. He has been in assisted living with my mother for the past year and half. My mother passed away in December and we moved my father home to live his remaining months/years in his own home. He is able to walk with a walker, uses the bathroom on his own, etc. He is currently under hospice care. He can go to bed on his own we just need someone here in case he wakes and gets out of bed because he is a fall risk and is sometimes confused.
