Both of my parents have dementia. My dad is 74 and has advanced dementia with a SLUMS score of 14 in October 2023. My mother is 75 with a SLUMS score of 18 in March 2025.

Ideal candidates are:
-Consistent
-Reliable
-Trustworthy
-Patient
-Organized
-Proactive problem solvers
-Basic Apple tech capabilities (mac, iPhone, etc)

Overall tasks needed with more description below:
-Scheduling maintenance -keep track of what needs to be done every week
-Organizational work- make sure my mom's notes are clear & consistent. She tends to write vague notes & leave them everywhere.
-Light housework -Vacuum, wipe down surfaces & check to see if the house looks generally tidy. Remind my parents to do things like clean sheets/towels weekly.
- Meal prep & grocery trip planning (do NOT need driving)
- Technology help. They are constantly confused by their devices.

They need help keeping their household organized and having consistent presence to ensure tasks are completed. My mom has the ability to drive but my dad can't. We have friends and family that help with outside yard care & some stuff around the house, but we need someone who is consistent & proactive.

Proactive is especially important because my parents do not feel like they need help. But my mom is in charge of paying bills now & is constantly losing her notes & forgetting things. We need someone who can keep them on track each day by discussing their schedule, what they will eat & following up to make sure they have scheduled dr visits, etc. My mom can do a lot of the scheduled tasks- but the person needs to be there to write a list of "to dos" for her for the day & week.

For meals, they are getting worse at remembering to eat well or checking expiration dates. So need the caregiver to periodically look through their fridge & help meal prep/grocery list creation.
