My 81yo dad lives alone and is still independent, relatively good health. He takes care of the house and cooks for himself, but he's slowing down a bit and could use some routine help around the house to make things easier for him and generally to check in and make sure he's doing ok on a routine basis. Looking for someone who could start off with a few hours a week (flexible schedule) to primarily cook some meals, keep they kitchen tidy and do some light housekeeping like dishes, laundry, changing sheets on the bed. (He has a regular full housecleaning service). He doesn't need help grocery shopping or any daily tasks like that at this stage. But ideally someone who enjoys cooking recipes that he likes, is easygoing and doesn't mind listening to him tell stories and have conversations while you're there. I live out of state and it would be good to have someone converse and check in on him, be there also in case he needs help (e.g., if he hurt his ankle and couldn't get around as easily, or needed to be picked up from the doctor at some point, etc). As he gets older, ideally he'd get to know someone and develop trust for when he needs more help over time. Flexible in terms of schedules and happy to discuss what might work.
