My Dad is under hospice care for stage Melanoma metastasized to his brain plus he has dementia. He sleeps a lot and should be primarily bed-bound, but when he wakes and forgets about his limitations, he tries to get up, which causes falls. This happens most often in the evening.
He and my Mom live together in an Assisted Living facility, but Mom is too frail to assist with his care. We need someone to sit with him and discourage his trying to walk or assist him if he absolutely must use his walker to go to the bathroom. My parents both wear call buttons, but Dad forgets to use his button to call for help, and tries to get up on his own.
