Home Care for Mother after Stroke / Dementia Diagnosis
Posted by Brad H. on 7/10/2025

- $14.00 per hour

Mother (78) already suffered from memory loss but had a stroke and was diagnosed with mild dementia. She ambulates well and can use the restroom on her own but her short term memory loss makes it dangerous for her to be alone because of medicine and food prep. She also needs some assistance (at present) with bathing (mostly getting up from shower transfer bench). She can be very sweet but is also very depressed (even before the stroke) and is prone to bouts of crying. Additional tasks beyond making sure she stays safe might include feeding three cats once a day, cleaning litter boxes periodically, and general household tasks like laundry and dishes. She mostly just sits in a recliner and watches TV. Care is most needed in evenings 4ish to overnight and weekends. She doesn't really have any hobbies at this point so, as noted, mostly watches TV (game shows, oldies, Everybody Loves Raymond).
