We’re seeking a reliable, caring Spanish/English-speaking companion for our vibrant 79-year-old Cuban mother in Pelham Bay, Bronx. She walks with a cane, has mild dementia, and is managing cancer. She remains active and socially engaged.

This is not a medical role. It’s about providing consistent companionship, safe supervision, and support with outings and light tasks.

Schedule:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM
(15 hours per week, with flexibility for additional hours if needed)

Key Responsibilities:
• Escort her to a local recreation center for Zumba and exercise classes
• Provide companionship and plan simple, engaging activities when she’s not attending (walks, brain games, etc.)
• Supervise and assist with daily routines. Provide gentle reminders and help managing memory lapses or stress
• Facilitate doctor visits by accompanying her or coordinating rides using Senior Transportation
• Perform light cleaning and tidying (dishes, laundry, helping organize)
• Advocate for her in public, social, or healthcare situations as needed

• Native Spanish speaker. Understands English but prefers Spanish
• Warm, independent, and social. Enjoys music, exercise, fresh air, and conversation
• Needs consistent structure and calming support when overwhelmed

• Bilingual (Spanish and English)
• Patient, calm, and experienced with seniors. Dementia support experience is a plus
• Comfortable with public transportation and ride services
• Vaccinated against COVID-19 (required)
