My mother is undergoing cancer treatment and has day-to-day challenges that come and go with her chemo cycle - weakness, pain, fatigue, sometimes confusion and short-term memory issues "chemo brain" - despite her independence and general energy level. She has a fairly active social life and still works out at the YMCA when she's feeling up to it, even driving. I am looking for someone to be a regular companion and help around the house to become acquainted with the patterns and able to detect or help when she's having any of the issues listed above, potentially to alert for more help. Would be great if this person could help drive her to appointments and errands regularly. Help with meals, laundry and dishes would be great. Evenings and overnight would also be helpful, but may consider a second resource to help with that.
