Hi! My name is Kathryn and I am a former elementary school teacher. During my 19 years in the public school system, I taught both 1st and 3rd grades. When my husband and I had our two children, I stopped teaching to stay home with them. During my “hiatus” with my children, I worked as a MDO teacher and 3 and 4K teacher until my children were old enough to attend school. As they grew, they kept us active with travel ball, team soccer, science fair, plays, cross country meets, academic school events, PTA, room mom duties, etc. It seems like one day we blinked, and they had grown into independent and curious individuals, and had gone away to college. My son has just started his 3rd year of medical school at UAB and my daughter is majoring in Biology at South. Prior to COVID, I was taking care of Read more a little girl from the age of 6 months-2+ years. She had 2 older siblings that I also helped out with when needed, and when available, I would babysit them on a random weekend. It was wonderful. It was heartbreaking when everything changed with COVID. As we are finally getting back to “normal”, I am anxious to be a hands on nanny/sitter again. I so miss teaching and working with babies and the children they grow into. To me, I have always found it amazing how each child’s mind works. I have two children (oops, I mean young adults) who have had different learning styles. They are both successful. As for little ones, I never want to to take the tea parties, building blocks, dolls and action figures, dinosaurs, super heroes, dress up, coloring, singing/(I try!), nature walks, cloud gazing, and of course, books and reading and story-telling for granted. Children are my heart. They only stay little for a short time.
