For the past 8 years, I have been a professional nanny, working full-time, primarily with newborns, infants, and toddlers, but also with older children in the mix. Prior to that, while I completed a Bachelor's Degree in Speech Language Pathology (child development and speech development being the core of the program), I worked in childcare part-time with several families, preschools, a summer camp, and as a church nursery worker. While I have yet to complete my Master's, which is required to enjoy a career as a speech language pathologist, I am happy that I am at least able to put my training to good use. Childcare is what I know, children are who I love. I have pursued many other career routes in my spare time over the years- primarily creative writing- but while I enjoy more intellectual endeavors, my true joy and fulfillment has come from the children- tiny Read more people whom I simply cannot live without. And though it takes dedication, strength of character, a WHOLE lot of patience, experience, creativity, and a hard-working mindset to the best caregiver I can be, I feel it's that loving bond which melds it all together to create the best experience for myself and my charges (and the parents, too!) :)
