My name's Sarah and I just recently moved to Phoenix to be closer to family after finishing up a stint at the John C. Campbell Folk School, where I studied pottery and folk banjo music. I am creative and artistic and have a lot of energy, most of which I channel into my love of the outdoors. I spend a lot of my free time exploring and hiking in the beautiful desert mountains that surround the city. I also have a deep love of cooking and am constantly reading through a rotating pile of books when I'm not outside. I absolutely love children. I love engaging with children, challenging them and watching them grow. I believe in a nurturing but firm approach with children, and find satisfaction in the finding the balance between being a playmate, a confidante, a disciplinarian, a caregiver, and partner in crime. I love the curiosity, Read more the sensitivity,and the perceptiveness of children and love sharing new experiences with them. I had two siblings that were much younger than me growing up and I found myself filling the space between their sister and their second mother. My mother worked a lot and so I oftentimes was in charge of holding down the fort at home as the oldest. My mom was herself a strong and bossy Latina woman but had a lot of love and heart for her children and she taught me so much this way. From her, I learned the responsibility with children doesn't end with making sure they are fed and clothed and put to bed at a reasonable time--but that they are also feeling loved and recognized and respected.
