I am 26 years old, recently married, & love working with children! The majority of my volunteer hours have been at my church where I work with children of all ages. Some of my volunteer titles are: teacher, youth leader, singing group leader, and kids club coordinator. Here they get to learn so much and do many fun activities. Many of these activities help each child grow spiritually and learn about their community and helping at home. My Sabbath morning with the kids at my church consist of first walking into classroom and organizing everything I need for the classes that day. I walk into the closet that is inside the classroom and there we have everything we need for singing, Bible story, craft supplies, and snacks. I usually get to do the singing part since I have the experience doing this with the kids. At times I get to Read more do both singing and story telling and I am usually working with 6 to 10 children. These activities are done bilingually (in Spanish and English), to teach everyone. One of the activities that I help the kids in our club consisted of doing nice scarfs for the elderly. In this activity we had the parents and staff do the cutting of the material and the children just did the easy part for them like learning how to do a knot. Once the scarfs were done, we went as a club to a convalescent home and there the children got to sing and also give the elderly the scarfs they made for them this pass Christmas. The kids also learn about how to be good helpers at home and in their community. They also learn about nature and worked on different honors. An example is how I drew some flowers for them and then explain to the kids how we have different types of flowers in our environment. I gave each child in my class a paper with the flower and they got to color it.
