Hello! My name is Amara, and I have many years of experience doing what I love - working with kids! I have worked as a nanny/babysitter - both full and part time - for many different families in Long Beach CA for the last 11 years at least. I have cared for children ranging in age from 1 month to 10 years old. I recently finished a full time nannying job where a cared for a little boy from the time he was 1 month old until he turned 2 years old and started nursery school. I occasionally watched both him and his 4 year old brother, who I had previously cared for from the time he was 16 months to 2 years old in 2019. From November 2019 to May 2020 I nannied for a different family with 2 boys aged 1 and 4. From April to November 2018 Read more I worked part-time for a family caring for their infant daughter. Before that I worked as a part-time nanny for a family from the time their daughter was 4 months old to when she turned 2. Prior to that I was a part-time nanny for a little boy for several months starting when he was 5 months old. For almost 9 years, from 2012 to 2021, I held the position of nursery caregiver at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Long Beach, which involved caring for children ranging from infants to 4 years old. I left the position because my weekday schedule became too hectic between nanny work and theatre rehearsals. Other childcare-related experience includes volunteering as an elementary level summer camp counselor, and volunteering in a special ed kindergarten/1st grade classroom. I can provide references upon request. I have an Associate degree in Theater from Long Beach City College. I also have 12 units of Early Childhood Development courses. Those courses helped me broaden my knowledge of how best to guide children through their different developmental stages. I have my own car, I don’t smoke, and I am willing to do light housework (picking up, laundry, dishes, sweeping, vacuuming, etc). I am happy to work with pets - I have 2 cats and 2 dogs at my house! I have experience walking dogs and children at the same time. I love working with little ones - coming up with fun, age-appropriate activities, going on walks, reading aloud, listening to music, doing arts and crafts, singing, playing games, and keeping the TV/tablet/computer off. I am also happy to take little ones for time at the park or the beach, and other outside activities. Hopefully I can be a good fit for your family!
