I believe in full disclosure and honesty, so this bio is lengthy, but definitely worth the read. I’m an undergraduate history and political science major on the pre-law track, with ambitions to either go into civil rights law or become a high school teacher. I was an assistant copy editor at the MVHS Oracle for a year and took over as the head copy editor for two years. I’ve been a Girl Scout for 14 years, many of which have been spent planning and leading events for younger Girl Scouts in my area, including organizing Camporee for seven years in a row. I love sharing knowledge and helping children, so becoming a nanny is something I’m very excited for. I have an active California driver’s license and consistently score highly on standardized testing, with a 1450 PSAT (unfortunately I was unable to take the SAT due to the pandemic) and Read more a 31 ACT score, with a 34 and 35 in reading and English respectively, and an 11/12 on the writing portion. I maintain at least a 3.95 GPA in school and am a motivated student with experience tutoring. I am not currently CPR certified, but have been in the past and am willing to get certified again. I have intermediate and basic first aid training for both people and animals respectively that I brush up on regularly. I love having fun, but I’m also always ready to calm down and focus on what’s important. I am skilled at staying calm in emergencies and stressful situations and am well-versed in dealing with meltdowns and tantrums. I also have experience with autistic and ADHD children and adults. I myself am autistic and have ADHD, and have a lot of experience figuring out healthy and productive coping mechanisms. In addition to this, I have a lot of experience assisting with mental health issues, particularly depression, anxiety, panic disorders, trauma responses, anger issues/mood swings, and eating or feeding disorders. It’s important to note that I am not a professional; however I do have significant experience in the topics of mental health and neurodivergency, based on living with my own brain and helping the people around me. While I have struggled with mental illness in the past (and I feel this is important to disclose) I have made it out the other side as a stronger, kinder, and more empathetic person. This experience taught me how to advocate for myself and my needs, which I feel very passionately about and would love to help your children with. Finally, I’m well-versed in many “kids’” topics — I’m very interested in Batman and other characters from both Marvel and DC, and know all the kid-friendly comics. I often enjoy G- and PG-rated films and TV shows, as well as book series geared towards younger audiences, meaning I have enough knowledge (and dedication) to keep up with passionate kids and learn about their interests so I can enthusiastically contribute to conversations. I am very experienced in caring for pets. I live in a home of animal lovers, and have extensive experience caring for dogs, cats, various types of freshwater fish, chickens, rats, hermit crabs, and even orphaned baby squirrels. I love finding new and creative ways to experience the world and going for slow walks to take in the wonders of the world that we often pass by in our busy lives. I believe that spending time outside and away from screens is an important part of human development and preserving mental health in children, and that it is important to spend time creating and not just consuming. I love art of all kinds and think it can be enjoyable, fulfilling, and beautiful no matter the skill level (if “skill” at art even exists — it’s so subjective, and the experience is entirely reliant on the viewer and/or the artist). There’s no such thing as perfection, and keeping a growth mindset is the best way to improve and continue to have fun while doing it. It is important to me that we discuss your parenting style so I can assist your family as cohesively and as seamlessly as possible. I can’t wait to work with you, and I hope you’ll consider letting me help you and your family this summer!
