Hello potential family! I am new to the Bay Area and excited to connect with a family here. I became a caregiver because of my natural affinity with children, and I have remained in the profession simply because I find it to be very rewarding. I am inspired by the way children know how to *be* in the world, and I strive to work with their parents to provide them with every kind of support they need to learn and grow in a healthy way. I see children as inherently wise, each in their own way, and it's up to me as a caregiver to identify and nurture that wisdom. I have been working with children professionally since 2003. For five years I worked as a clinic aide in a small pediatric therapy clinic. We engaged children of all ages (0-13) in speech, physical, and occupational therapy, My tasks ranged Read more from assisting therapists in sessions and handling special projects for them, to running social groups for kiddos who needed some support learning how to relate appropriately to their peers. I then attended university in Vancouver, BC (the University of British Columbia), where I obtained a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Spanish (I do speak/read/write Spanish, not totally fluently, but at an advanced level). I worked as a nanny for the majority of my college time, as well as for several years after. Even after having been gone from Canada for nearly two years now, I continue to maintain loving relationships with my families from afar, and can provide excellent references from them. So my experience is with children of all ages and of varied abilities. I excel at (deep breath!) diapers, nap schedules, nutritious meal preparation, light housekeeping, schedule management, errands, trips to the park or other outdoor activities, imaginary games, critical thinking, reading, singing, dancing, drawing, encouraging self love, building, homework supervision and tutoring, gardening...and much more! Whatever the needs of my family are, and however we need to schedule the day, I pride myself on being patient, loving, and attentive. I am big on self care, because I know I need to be grounded in order to provide the best care that I can. So I lead a very healthful lifestyle, which includes a daily meditation practice. I want to find the best match possible so that I can maintain a quality, long-term relationship with my family. If it sounds to you like we would be a good fit, then I very much look forward to speaking with you!

Rachel took care of our toddler twins during a visit to the Bay Area. Our boys instantly fell in love with her and the three of them instantly bonded. Not only was she very caring with the boys but she also organized educational activities and brought some of her own toys for them to play with. Rachel proved to be very resourceful and creative by coming up with games and activities that entertained them for hours. Aside from taking care of the boys she also prepared their meals, did their laundry, and some other twin related chores. We highly recommend Rachel and she will be our go to sitter whenever we visit the Bay Area.
