Hello, I’m Erin. I recently relocated from Washington State. I was born here in San Diego, but spent the last 30 yrs in Washington. Ever since I was little, I knew I wanted to work with children. I started babysitting at 10yrs old for my cousin, then when I moved, I babysat for my neighbors, and their cousins. In high school I took Eary Childhood Education for two semesters, loved it, wasn’t allowed to take it anymore, so the teacher brought me back as her TA so I could still be a part of the program. That led me to a job working at a church nursery. Then I worked at Chuck E Cheese, which you know there’s children everywhere. I loved it. Then at 19, I walked into a childcare center and said “I know you have to have experience to do something like this but I would really Read more like an opportunity to work with children”. They gave me a working interview and hired me immediately. From there my love for working with children grew. I became a mom of two, a stepmom of 2, and then decided I wanted to go to school to open up my own childcare center. So I graduated with my A.A.S degree in Early Childhood and was immediately offered a job through the Head Start program. Where I worked for the last 21 years. I also worked at a live in Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation home for women and children an provided therapeutic childcare for children whose mothers were in treatment for addiction. My children are all grown up, I have 3 granddaughters who I love so much. They are my pride and joys. I love the ocean, concerts, music, and sports. I love being outdoors. I love interacting with people. As I’ve gotten older and demands of the classroom have become more challenging, I have decided to step away from the classroom environment , and would like to take a more personal role with children and families. When you work for a federal program, sometimes the “systems” become more about the paperwork, and not about the heart work that we do with children and families. Nannying seems to be exactly where that cup can get filled
