Hi, my name is Megan. I'm 18 and enrolled in Cal State Dominguez Hills as a biology major. I currently work at a preschool so I have a ton of practice with kids 2-4 on a day to day basis. I am really invested in coming up with creative ways to teach kids about more complex concepts by implementing experiments and sensory activities. I spend a lot of time on Pinterest to help me along the process because trying to teach a 4 year old how lungs work is more fun when we have glitter involved. Other than that, I have been told that I am a great soccer player by the kids and that I come up with fun games (for reference,I taught them how to play tag, hide and go seek, and hopscotch so they think I invented them). I am teaching two of them how to read Read more and it’s probably one of my favorite things that I have been able to work on an academic standpoint. I enjoy music so I tend to implement it in teaching and playing. I am a big fan of personalizing nursery rhymes to every kid who I babysit and it normally gets created while trying to put them down for a nap or when trying to make them smile. I genuinely love working with kids because they have good intentions for most of their actions and I like helping them navigate the world and overall help them with their issues because relative to us, they are tiny little disputes but they mean more to them. I would be lying if I didn’t say that I find them really funny because they can be really clumsy and I have to try really hard not to laugh when they try to lie but it’s blatantly obvious that they did whatever they are rejecting. I was involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters which is a volunteer program that allowed me to mentor a “Little Sister” and I would visit her weekly to tutor her throughout my 4 years of high school. That’s where I figured out that I enjoy working with older kids and I actually like to assist them in learning the foundation for math and English specifically. Overall, kids and I get along pretty great and I appreciate everything that they manage to teach me. I would be more than happy to work with your family and to be of service when needed. Thank you :)
