I bring enthusiasm, professionalism, a love of children and animals, creativity, maturity and responsibility to my work as a caregiver. My credentials are unique, and represent years of experience in different roles. I have a Bachelor of Arts from Pomona College and a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology from CSU, Fullerton. I am currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University. Over the years I have taught courses at the college and junior college level, managed the fitness department at an athletic club, operated my own small business, worked as a personal assistant to a family, and been the primary administrator of the counseling department at a not-for-profit community clinic. I have certifications in Adult and Child CPR and First Aid that I am in the process of bringing up-to-date. Through clinical training in psychotherapy, I have more than 5 years experience working with adults Read more and children ages 4-12 years old. I have studied child and adolescent development as well as some parenting. I have learned that one of the most important skills a caregiver must possess is the capacity to listen to a child, and to communicate to her that her concerns are heard and valued. Much acting out and challenging behavior in children occurs when they feel they are not understood. In addition, I have learned that a caregiver must be consistent, providing boundaries that a child will learn she can rely on, even if she may not particularly like that the boundaries are there. Personally, I love children and animals. I am experienced in providing care for children of all ages and have worked as a tutor to children in both junior and senior high school. I have owned dogs and cats, among other pets, and have experience training dogs. One of my most favorite hobbies is cuisine. I love to cook for others and have been told that my creations are delicious! As I have returned to graduate school to pursue a second career, I am looking for a part-time job that is meaningful. As such, I hope to be able to work with a family and provide them the care and assistance that they need. I am not your typical caregiver, but I believe that my skills and experience will translate well to the role of caregiver and tutor. I would love the opportunity to work for your family.
