My initial interest in childhood education began at a very young age. Eventually, I started my career in childcare and was both a nanny and after-care instructor. It was then when I discovered my natural ability to connect with children of all ages. I completed my BA in Human Development in Washington. This move presented an opportunity to work for the Gardner School of Arts and Sciences. Being bilingual, I was asked to teach Spanish in grades 5-8 full time. After my internship in Early Childhood, I was offered the Lead Preschool teacher role. With my ongoing professional development and continued experience in the classroom, I was able to improve the Early Childhood program which was recently been nominated as top 5 best preschools in Clark County, WA. My philosophy in the classroom follows a play-based and Reggio Emilia approach, where we honor each individual child and give them the Read more opportunity to lead their own learning through exploration and discovery. I believe in allowing children to take ownership and risks through their learning and through their play which then gives them the confidence they need for future academic success. I am very passionate and proud of the work that I do with children. Leaving a lasting and positive impact is the most rewarding thing that I can think of. I am now back in California and am looking to step aside from all the extra work that comes with teaching at a school so that I can focus on my future goal of starting my own preschool. Of course, this would not get in the way of my time with your child, as I am very passionate about what I do and am excited to be working closely with a family again. As you can imagine, planning and prepping for 25 students is a lot more work than it is for me to commit to an individual family. This would be the perfect balance for me as I can still do what I am passionate about, while having more time to focus on my long-term goals as an educator.
