Hi all, My name is Lesly Acha, I am 21 years old. I am a current full-time 4th year Psychology major with minors in Child Development and Spanish at CSULB, with an expected graduation date this upcoming May 2023. At the moment, I work at a small business coffee shop as a part time Barista here in Long Beach. In addition to being a full-time student and part time Barista, I volunteer as a General Volunteer with Child Life Specialist and as a responder advocate to child abuse and sexual assault (CART). As a General Volunteer with Child Life Specialists, the program is to interact with patients of all ages and their family members to gain general experience working with children in the hospital setting. As a volunteer, I help the Child Life team by running hospital playroom sessions, through setting up activities, engaging children in play, and assisting with Read more clean up when the playroom session closes On the other hand, as a CART advocate, I respond to local hospitals in Long Beach, Torrance, and San Pedro when law enforcement believes a child/adolescent has been sexually assaulted. Interacting with children during their visit by playing games, reading books or other activities. Accompanying the victim during the exam and helping parents cope with what has happened. Connecting victims/families to services by giving information about treatment programs. Additional experience I’ve gained in prior years has been, volunteering as a Best Buddies Tutor at the High School I attended. I networked with specific learning disorders students. I assisted with education coursework, homework, speech, and activities to improve education performance. Mentored children through one-on-one academic support to better prepare them for classroom learning I enjoy my time with children, whether it being interacting throughout activities and/or assisting with their academics. Additional Skills: - Bilingual: Spanish and English - Responsible - Respectful - Loving / Nurturing - Willingness to work - Punctual - Organized - Supportive
