Hello! My name is Daniel DeBarge, and I am a senior at Loyola University New Orleans majoring in Music Industry Studies. I'm originally from Portland, Connecticut, and I have been in New Orleans now for three years. I have a good amount of experience working with children. I worked for four summers, from 2015-2018, at a summer camp back in CT called Summer Quest. While there, I not only became CPR certified, I had the wonderful opportunity to work with children ages 5-13. On a daily basis, I had to supervise up to 10 kids at once, and it was my job to not only keep them safe, but to also organize creative and exciting activities to keep the kids engaged. For the school year of 2016-2017, I worked at the Whelan Center, which is a daycare center on the campus of Loyola University New Orleans. While there, I did Read more similar tasks to the ones at camp, however the kids I were supervising were ages 2-4. This was an eye-opening experience for me because it gave me a genuine understanding on how kids develop through their early childhood. From this experience along with working at summer camps, I have developed not only a deep passion for seeing kids grow into greatest potential, but I have also developed an infinite supply of patience. Aside from my work in childcare, I also am very passionate about the arts. I am pursuing a career as a singer/songwriter, and I also play jazz piano. Additionally, I love being active and playing all types of sports such as basketball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, and football. Most importantly, I am in love with reading! Nothing will ever come between me and my desire to expand my knowledge and perspectives.
