Claire worked as a supremely wonderful nanny with our family from July 2018 to October 2020, from my daughter’s babyhood through starting preschool. She will be a magical addition to your life whether she helps with birth, postpartum/newborn care, or any point thereafter. Claire is everything one could hope for in a caregiver: she is gentle, warm, and funny. She is trustworthy, dependable, and punctual. She is diligent, engaging, and intellectually curious. You can absolutely trust Claire’s judgment in caring for your family – in everything from driving your child around Los Angeles to following the best health & safety recommendations regarding Covid. Claire cared for our daughter three to four days a week, usually 9am-5pm, along with occasional evenings and overnights. Her babycare (such as feeding, diapering, and nap routines) is top-notch, as are her toddler skills (everything from potty learning business to warm-yet-firm structure and authority). She can share a wealth of knowledge about parenting and early childcare philosophies, while always respecting the routines and approaches of your family, which in our case were RIE and some Montessori ideas. My daughter enjoyed many fun morning outings with Claire around Los Angeles, along with lots of cozy reading and fun art projects at home. Claire is a talented, health-minded chef, and helped with laundry, dishes, and tidying up toys at the end of the day. In one of my daughter’s books a character is described as “an artist through and through” and I often think of Claire in those terms. Her care for your family is an art. We recommend Claire highly and I would be delighted to answer any questions you may have about hiring her.

We adore Claire! I am a pediatrician and my husband is a government contractor. We hired Claire last year when our daycare wasn't working out, and she has been a full-time nanny for our two boys, ages 20mo and 3yrs for the last year. She works about 40-50hrs/week for us, and has also stayed overnight when needed. She is intelligent, patient, creative, and energetic, and has been a fantastic nanny. She has taken excellent care of my boys, and I have complete trust in her. We are moving to North Carolina in August, and though I've asked her (multiple times) to consider moving with us, she needs to stay in the Baltimore area. My older son has a feeding disorder, and requires special feeding techniques (and a lot of patience). She responded to this flawlessly, learned the techniques we use to get him to eat, and also developed some of her own that work fabulously with him (like reading to him during meals). She manages the interactions between the two boys well (as they are now developing more and more sibling rivalry), and disciplines them as needed. She follows our parenting philosophy, and we have never had issues with any of her methods of caring for them. She takes the boys outside on a daily basis and also takes them regularly to the aquarium, zoo, Druid Hill conservatory, library, and a variety of playgrounds. She is always finding new and fun things for them to do. She is timely and reliable, and has come to our aid more than once in a pinch. Claire is well-educated and has a wealth of knowledge and experience in teaching and art. You would be lucky to have her as your nanny. I will gladly provide a reference if needed (contact info listed in Claire's references section) Jessica Clarke-Pounder
