Meet Makena

  • Comfortable with pets

Hello there! My name is Makena and I am currently a sophomore student-athlete attending the University of San Francisco. My experience in child care stems back to my family; I am the oldest of 4 kids, myself being aged 19 and the youngest is currently age 13. I've been an older sister since I was 2 years old and have taken care of my siblings my whole life. I’ve also been babysitting for over 8 years. I’ve had some one-time occurrences for date night or last minute plans, and I’ve also been a ‘nanny’ (to an extent) for long-term. So I’ve done it all! I’ve had tons of experience with kiddos of all ages, but I have the least experience with infants. I think what sets me apart from other sitters is my patience and experience. Growing up in a big family I learned early on how to tolerate those Read more around me and take care of others from a young age. I love taking care of my friends and family and I think these natural traits of mine translate beautifully into my role as a caretaker. To note, I do not have any official caregiver certifications or training, but am currently in the process of receiving my CPR/First aid certification.

Makena has been great with our kids (6 & 10). She's energetic and kind, and formed a bond with them very quickly. For our part, she's also been very prompt and reliable. It's been a pleasure to have her sit for us, and we'll definitely be hiring her again!
