My decision to pursue a career working with children came after becoming a mother myself and realizing all the joy it brought me. I have just completed my eighth year in the field of child development and I don't see myself doing anything else. I enjoy being able to foster the children's creativity through arts and crafts, help develop their motor skills and sensory perception through play, as well as shape their abilities in reading, writing, and math. Most of all, I enjoy making all of those things fun to learn, so you may often find me singing, dancing, laughing, and just being silly with the kids. I have worked with all age groups and enjoy the many aspects of them all. For the first five years, I worked as a preschool teacher. Most of all I am a mother of a 10-year-old and that kind of knowledge can never be taught at any school! I have come to realize that working on a more personal one on one basis with the children in my care provides a greater rewarding feeling. In this setting I am able teach them and ensure their learning. It also provides the opportunity to build a greater bond with them and expand out of a classroom setting to enjoy outdoor activities and fun. In the past my long term positions have been the most enjoyable as I have been able to see the children grow and learn and even feel as part of the family, I am, however, open to any and all opportunities.
